It’s Must Read Books for April time already! I love April and the newness of everything coming back to life. New flowers to plant, trees are blooming, birds are singing. Pollen is in the air! Oh, wait. Yeah, okay. Not so much the pollen! 😳
There are a lot of great books out there to choose from for Must Read Books for April. I think we have four great choices that teach about the earth or are just fun! Also, there is still time to get the free April Literacy Challenge if you missed that last week. Find it here.
I Am Earth is a great little book perfect for Earth Day. It is written from the earth’s perspective and reminds students what earth is like and how to respect and care for it. Fun illustrations too!
Trees Make Perfect Pets will make your students laugh to think of a tree being a pet. This one teaches about the importance of trees in a fun, story line.
In Moon! Earth’s Best Friend, students will learn about the moon and its relationship to our planet earth. I like this nonfiction book with all of its moon facts!
Grumpy Monkey isn’t about Earth Day or spring. But sometimes, we just feel grumpy and our friends want to help. Students will discover the importance of helping each other and that sometimes you just have to work through your feelings.
To go along with our April Must Read Books, we got April writing activities. As we approach test time in the school year, it is critical that students learn how to state opinions and be able to back up those opinions with reasons. These April Take It or Leave It writing activities are similar to Would You Rather. But instead of just choosing what you want, these activities require students to back up those opinions. Lots of fun April topics like bunnies, Earth Day, recycling and much more!
